The Secretary of Industry, José De Mendiguren, affirmed this Monday that “Argentina has one of the lowest unemployment levels in the last nine years,” and highlighted the sustained economic growth of the last three.
“Argentina today has one of the lowest unemployment levels in the last nine years, it does not reach 7%,” De Mendiguren specified to FM La Patriada, and maintained that “of course there are drawbacks, which have to do with dollars and inputs, but we have been growing”.
In the case of the industry in particular, he specified that considering “the pre-pandemic, has been growing by 12% generally”.
“During the 4 years of the previous government, the economy collapsed without war and without a pandemic. We are going to finish the administration with three consecutive years of economic growth”stressed the official.
De Mendiguren also referred to inflation and acknowledged that “he who works does not have enough money, it is very difficult to maintain purchasing power with this level of inflation.”
Along these lines, he stressed that “when we took office we attacked this issue strongly and we ended up with 80% inflation when they projected 140%”, and stated that “it is still a lot, but we plan to continue on that path”.
He also analyzed the price agreements and stressed that they cover “both prices and supply with large companies”.
In addition, he pointed out that “in several cases it is failing”, but he stressed that “significant fines are being imposed, and collaboration is required”.
Likewise, he called on the companies that had “enormous help from the public sector” during the pandemic, that “this has to be returned.”
On the other hand, in relation to Brazilsaid that both countries “have an abundance of resources that the world needs”, so it is necessary “to work together and complement each other, to be able to trade with each other”.
“Not using the dollars that are scarce is important for our reserves,” stressed the secretary, who maintained that “the country is in a scenario close to a great economic improvement.”
