After being beaten by Brazil in the South American classic, the Argentine team got its first victory this Tuesday against Peru, which they won 4-0 on the second date of the Copa América Femenina played in Colombia.
At the Centenario Stadium in Armenia, the Albicelestes prevailed over the Peruvians with goals from Yamila Rodríguez, Florencia Bon Segundo, Eliana Stabile and Érica Lonigro.
Rodríguez took advantage of a pass from Estefanía Banini, who found the ball after a rebound given by the rival defense in the 28th minute.
The Rodríguez-Banini formula was the most pungent of the entire match, given the ineffectiveness of Peru’s defense in breaking the partnership between the Boca Juniors player and the Atlético de Madrid player.
In minute 53, Argentina’s cleverness paid off. After a quick throw-in, Rodríguez assisted Bonsecond to celebrate the second goal.
At 63′, Banini put the team on his shoulder again and after creating a play that confused Peru, left-back Stabile scored the third.
A few minutes from the end (85′), Érica Lonigro took advantage of a new distraction in Peru’s rearguard and scored the fourth.
The Peruvians, who made their debut after resting on the first date, especially succumbed to Banini, the figure of the field.
Now Argentina is third in group B, with the same points as Venezuela, although the goal difference is worse due to the defeat against Brazil (4-0) in its debut in the Cup.
Earlier the Brazilians defeated Uruguay 3-0, widening their lead at the top of the table.
On Friday, Argentina will play a new edition of the Río de la Plata classic against Uruguay, while Peru will face Venezuela in Armenia.
