Through a statement issued on August 13, the governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Mexico expressed concern regarding the political tension in Peru. In the statement, the Latin American countries called for “political dialogue” to be strengthened in order to overcome the current situation.
“The governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Mexico, faced with the political tension in Peru, we call on all the institutions and political forces of that sister Republic to strengthen political dialogueas a tool to overcome the current situation that the country is going through”, reads the statement.
In this sense, the various national actors are urged to generate consensus in order to strengthen the rule of law and, in addition, the Peruvian political system that is currently in crisis after the constant questioning against members of the Executive and Legislative.
“We trust that all the national actors they will privilege the construction of broad, inclusive and participatory consensus that allow strengthening the functioning of the political system established by the Constitution and the rule of law”, he adds.

The Republic President, peter castlethanked the leaders of the countries that spoke in favor of democracy in Peru for calling for dialogue, in the context of the current political crisis.
“I thank the presidents Alberto Fernández, Luis Arce, Guillermo Lasso, and Manuel López Obrador; of the brother peoples of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Mexico for the support to the consolidation of our democracy and the Government against the maneuvers of anti-democratic sectors”, Castillo Terrones specified through his social networks.
