Argentina appoints its ambassador to Venezuela

The Government of Argentina has proposed Oscar Laborde, who currently serves as vice president of Parlasur, to assume the position of ambassador to Venezuela.

This was reported yesterday by President Alberto Fernández’s chancellor, Santiago Cafiero, when appearing before the Foreign Relations Commission of the Argentine Senate. In the right to speak, the minister defended Fernández’s decision to “rebuild” the diplomatic relationship with Venezuela.

“We had a charge d’affaires and now we are going to have an ambassador. What we want is to move forward in rebuilding the relationship, ”she insisted.

The former leader of the Communist Party will assume the embassy in Venezuela, which has been in the hands of a business manager since 2015 when the then government of Mauricio Macri downgraded relations.

He was mayor of Avellaneda (1999 -2003) and ambassador of the Civil Society Council in the Argentine Foreign Ministry.
