Argentina and Spain agreed to promote SME digitization and industry 4.0

The Secretary of Industry and Productive Development, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, sealed a strategic bilateral cooperation agreement with the Spanish Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, with the aim of promoting SME digitization and industry 4.0, this was reported. Officially Tuesday.

In this way, Argentina and Spain They will work on the development of a digitization tool that will serve SMEs to leverage investments, and another project to develop a Spanish-Argentine technology cluster network that radiates throughout Latin America and generates a transatlantic link, says a statement from Industry and Development Productive.

“Argentina is advancing in the industry 4.0 agenda, but it can take an even greater leap thanks to a great industrial tradition and current technological and entrepreneurial capacity,” said De Mendiguren during the 5th Connected Industry Congress held in Valencia.


At the meeting, the official shared the Spain-Argentina Institutional Round Table together with Reyes Maroto and the Argentine ambassador to that country, Ricardo Alfonsín.

De Mendiguren also pointed out that Argentina “has a great opportunity” in a “developed world that today discusses how add value with technology and knowledge“.

Likewise, the secretary referred to the opening of “new opportunities for economic complementarity” for Argentina with Spain presiding over the European Union since 2023.

In this regard, he reported that progress is being made on “an agenda that promotes a much greater commercial exchange, reissuing and reinforcing the axis of the Atlantic“.

“Argentina is a priority country in the internationalization strategy of the Spanish company; the relationship with Spain, and also with Europe, is going to be very important for the national industry to continue growing,” said De Mendiguren.

In his turn, Reyes Maroto highlighted the importance of promoting two strategic sectors such as the automotive and agro-industrial sectors in which “many synergies have been found to work together and with that vocation to share together with the Latin American region.”
