Cuban ministers and officials concluded their visit to Argentina to outline the first actions of an agricultural cooperation agreement between the two countries that enhances the Caribbean country’s livestock with the support of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and Argentine companies.
In this way, both countries advanced in an agreement that will consist of Argentine technicians and businessmen planting the first production of grains with Argentine technology for livestock in the Cuban countryside.
“This agreement strengthens bilateral relations and economic ties; on the one hand, Cuba will improve the production of grains for the provision of food, and thus be able to deepen its plan for food sovereignty and import substitution,” said the Chief of Staff of the Nation in a statement.
On the other hand, “national entrepreneurs with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the Foreign Ministry and organizations such as INTA, will be able to develop their business in Cuban territory.”
To advance with this objective, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Nation and organizer of the mission, Jorge Neme, and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Julián Domínguez, reviewed with the delegation of the Cuban presidency the first actions that will be carried out ahead in the short term for the development of production in fields already defined by the Cuban authorities.
Last Friday, together with Domínguez and INTA officials, the Cuban delegation toured the “AgroActiva 2022” exhibition that took place in the town of Armstrong, Santa Fe, and later, together with the Secretary of Food, Bioeconomy and Regional Development, Luis Contigiani, visited the 8th Braford World Congress held in Corrientes.
The Cuban delegation toured INTA facilities and cooperative farms and also participated in meetings with the Vice Foreign Minister, Pablo Tettamanti; the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Cecilia Todesca; the Undersecretary for Trade and Investment Promotion, Pablo Sívori; the Argentine ambassador to Cuba, Luis Ilarregui, and the vice president of INTA, Nacira Belén Muñoz.
To conclude, a working meeting was held with Argentine businessmen accompanied by Banco Nación, including AGD, Molinos and ACA, another meeting with the Federation of Federated Cooperatives Ltda (Fecofe), Argentine Federated Farmers (AFA) and rural contractors from Argentina, who are interested in joining the agreement to export with added value and take their business model to Cuba.
Additionally, they met with the president of Arsat, Matías Tombolini, with Telecom authorities and with Mateo Gómez Ortega, Undersecretary of Telecommunications and Connectivity.
