The complaint for the stripping of the nationality of the human rights defender Danny Ramírez-Ayérdiz was admitted by the National Criminal and Correctional Court number four of the Judiciary of the Argentine Nation, based in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The jurist, along with 93 other Nicaraguans, was declared a “traitor to the homeland” by the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo on February 15. This decision by the Ortega justice system also stripped him of his Nicaraguan nationality and left him stateless.
The complaint was filed at the end of February by the Nicaraguan victim who lives in Argentina. The lawyer is executive secretary of the Center for Inter-American Legal Assistance in Human Rights (Calidh), an organization that filed a complaint in the South American country against Ortega, Murillo and seven regime officials for crimes against humanity.

«Judge Ariel Lijo admitted my individual complaint about the alleged stripping of my nationality, because this is far from international law and is a unilateral act of the Government of Nicaragua, but that in the end produces effects. This means that the (criminal) process in Argentina is advancing at a steady pace and apart from me, they also declared another person as the complainant in the same resolution,” the lawyer explained to Article 66.
The human rights defender stressed that the admission of the complaint is “very important” because the judge is collecting the evidence and is receiving the necessary victims for this process that would lead to a trial.
“He is in the investigation stage, deciding if there are merits to go to trial. There is a firm step with this admission of my complaint as a victim directly affected in accordance with article 82 and 83 of the Argentine Federal Criminal Procedure Code », he pointed out.
In addition, the victim, through Calidh, will be able to present their own arguments and evidence before the National Criminal and Correctional Court Number 4, but Calidh will also be able to accompany all possible victims before the Argentine jurisdiction.
“This implies following the recommendations of the Group of Experts for Nicaragua of the Human Rights Council (of the UN) that universal jurisdiction is active,” he stressed.
