A variety of wild animals dead that were used for magical rituals were seized in Arequipa, during the intervention in the market New Hope of the trading platform Andres Avelino Caceres.
The Police, the Decentralized Unit for Environmental Protection (UNIPMA), the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (Serfor) seized 17 complete specimens and 8 parts of different specimens wild.

Among the animals seized are 11 snakes, 5 lizards. Also found were 3 deer antlers, pieces of deerskinwings of parihuana and 100 grams of feathers from this same bird soaked in herbs.
According to Law No. 29763, Forestry and Wildlife Law, “acquiring, marketing, exporting and/or possessing wildlife resources extracted without authorization or that come from unauthorized centers” is sanctioned with fines or jail time, according to the seriousness of the event.
In this case, the identified merchants and shamans will be subjected to a sanctioning administrative process and the fine they could pay will range from 4,600 soles, equivalent to a Tax Unit (UIT), up to 5,000 UIT.
