After several hours of cleaning work, this Saturday afternoon the Panamericana Sur was partially restored in Atico (Caravelí). They confirmed that only one lane was enabled.
As recalled, the National Police had reported that vehicular traffic at kilometer 732 of the South Pan-American Highway, in the district of Atico, was completely blocked in both lanes due to the rockfall occurred on the afternoon of this Friday, November 21.
The fact was reported when averaging the 3:50 in the afternoon.
Police personnel confirmed that rocks from the surrounding hills fell on the road, covering a stretch of approximately 20 to 30 meters. As recalled, this same event occurred last Monday, November 17, leaving passengers and drivers stranded for more than 12 hours.
Agents of the Police remain in the area to order traffic and prevent risks. Likewise, the Atico tollbooth was informed to restrict the passage of vehicles to the south, as well as the Ocoña police station.
For their part, they recommended drivers and passengers to take the necessary precautions.
