Arequipa: Protesters leave for Lima to protest against Dina Boluarte's government

A group of Arequipeños left for the city of Lima to join the protests scheduled for July 27, 28 and 29 against the government of President Dina Boluarte, which were called by the National Unitary Coordinator of Struggle.

The fourth delegation of residents left in the morning. On Wednesday, another group of protesters left. They will be in Lima to join the protest rally that will take place in Plaza Dos de Mayo, where they will meet with delegations from other regions.

Two more buses will depart during the day, with the participation of 180 to 250 people expected. In addition, protesters from La Joya and Majes will join this trip.

Despite the announcement that police will carry out checks on delegations travelling to Lima, they have stated that they are not afraid and that they will respect their constitutional rights.

“We have the constitutional right to protest”said the coordinator of the mobilizations in Arequipa, Jorge del Carpio, who also requested the closure of Congress, a constituent assembly and the cancellation of the Tía María mining project.
