Arequipa: Police are released after being taken hostage in the district of La Joya

A police officer from the El Triunfo police station in the La Joya district was released after being taken hostage by a group of protesters who threatened to burn down the police headquarters.

This event occurs in the midst of clashes in the district between the National Police and the protesters, which began after noon. These violent acts left at least six injured.

According to a live link from Latina, the police station was sprayed with gasoline by a group of protesters to set it on fire, which is why members of the UCE arrived to protect the 20 agents at the police headquarters.
