Arequipa loses the headquarters of the Congress of the Spanish Language, due to the crisis in Peru

Arequipa will no longer host the IX International Congress of the Spanish Languageas a result of political instability, the protests rejecting the president Dina Boluarte and the request for the closure of the Congress of the Republic, after the vacancy of Pedro Castillo.

The decision was announced by the same director of the Royal Spanish AcademySantiago Muñoz, according to La Vanguardia.

This meeting was to take place March 27 to 30, 2023 with the participation of approximately 300 people including academics, researchers and notable people, but all this activity was will move to Cádizalso in March.

The city of Arequipa was getting ready to host this international activity, after applying repeatedly and finally get the event held in Arequipa. Although the event is organized by the Royal Spanish Academy, the Cervantes Institute, Association of Spanish Language Academies, in Arequipa it was promoted by the National University of San Agustín and the Provincial Municipality.

One of the most favored sectors was the sightseeing, because academic, financial, business events and events of all kinds mean the economic movement in different sectors such as hotels, restaurants, transportation, among others.
