Arequipa: Five people die from COVID-19 in December

The hospitalized and deceased in Arequipa due to Covid-19 begin to increase in the fifth wave of the pandemic and only in December has registered 5 deathswhen until November there were no deaths.

The head of Epidemiology of the Honorio Delgado Espinoza HospitalPercy Miranda, reported that the deceased are over 60 years old, aged 82.88 and up to 92 years old, however, only one of the dead had the full dose and three of them did not have any vaccine against the coronavirus.

while the patients hospitalized as a result of the virus add up to 22, two are in the Surgery area, another 4 internships are using cannulas for better breathing. None are in the ICU, but there is a risk that one of them will move to this critical area.

Miranda pointed out that between January and February there would be the greatest increase in infections, but it is unknown if there will also be a greater number of deaths.

The concern is that the January 7th the Temporary Attention Center must be deactivated that was installed to care for patients and to rent again, a contingency plan must be developed.

The other question that has not yet been defined is whether the Honorio Delgado hospital will exclusively care for Covid patients or it will be conditioned to care for patients with other pathologies, as well as Covid-19.
