Arequipa farmers organize to import 10 thousand tons of urea

Farmers in the Arequipa region organized themselves to import 10 thousand tons of urea, due to the increase in the price in the domestic market, in addition to the delay of the Government to support with this fertilizer to family farming.

Counselor Elmer Pinto reported that the members of the Users’ Boards were organized through the Consortium of Agricultural Producers of the Arequipa Region (Conagrar) and the presidency fell to the president of the Board of Users La Joya, Luis Juárez.

In the last meeting they agreed to acquire the 10 thousand tons of urea from the supplier Imperium Global Supply from United Arab Emirates at a cost of $480 per ton and the material will arrive at the port of Matarani.

Farmers who want the product have until Friday, August 12 to register and deposit the money.

The sale of the urea will be according to the order of registration until the stock is exhausted.

It should be remembered that the urea price tripled this yearbecause of the 60 soles that the 50 kilo sack cost to date it costs 190 soles.
