The alleged leaders of the criminal organization “Los Gallegos”, Yanet de Jesús Ballesteros Zambrano and her partner, Xavier Israel Freitez Rea, were sent to prison for 36 months of preventive detentionfollowing the resolution of the Fourth Preparatory Investigation Court.
In December 2022, the Second Office of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime, headed by prosecutor Rosmery Mendoza Palomino, dismantled a faction of The Galicians of the Aragua Trainof which several were placed in preventive detention and others with an arrest warrant, but these would have been reorganized.

Thus, on August 29, 2024, in a Joint operation in Lima and Arequipathe two mentioned and another 4 of the gang were arrested. The prosecution has linked Ballesteros with the administration of the profits of “The Galicians of the Underworld”, which operate in cities such as Arequipa, Pedregal and La Joya, while his partner was in charge of providing drugs to other members of the organization.
The investigation, which began in January 2023, has identified 51 members of this complex criminal structure, which has continued its illicit activities after the dismantling of a faction in December 2022. Prosecutor Mendoza Palomino presented some evidence that supports the charges of criminal organization, sexual exploitation and contract killingamong others.
Among the atrocities attributed to “Los Gallegos” are: murders of Venezuelan citizens for refusing to comply with the band’s demands, as well as the sexual exploitation of young people and minorsFor these illegal activities they had motorcycles, cars, buildings, weapons and ammunition.
In addition, the court ordered appearance with restrictions for Lizeth Isabel Talavera Carpio, another person involved in the case.
