Arequipa: 34 life sentences and more than 1,900 sentences for family violence in 2025

During 2025, the courts of the Criminal Module for the Punishment of Crimes Associated with Violence against Women and Members of the Family Group of the Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa issued more than 1,900 sentences and 34 life sentences.

Of this total, 600 correspond to crimes of sexual violence and feminicide and 1,360 to physical and psychological attacks, harassment, blackmail and other crimes linked to violence against women and members of the family group.

In cases of sexual violence, it was evident that the The main victims continue to be girls, boys and adolescentsdetecting that in the majority of processes the aggressors belong to the family environment, such as uncles, stepfathers or other close relatives.

It is worth mentioning that an important part of these processes began during 2025 itself and that, due to the efforts of magistrates and judicial servants, they were resolved quickly in the same year.

Likewise, the Court highlighted that the level of jurisdictional production was possible thanks to the articulated work of the 9 Preparatory Investigation Courts6 Single-Person Criminal Courts and 4 Collegiate Courts, which make up the Criminal Violence Module of Arequipa.
