Geopolitics reflects on how a State, Nation or Corporation has a geographic space, in addition to the impact it could have on politics at a national, regional and global level; within this vision some dynamics led by powerful nations in the economic or military fields are generated, producing geographic areas where they exert a certain influence, which can be called: zone of influence of power, understood as an area or region in which a country, organization or state indirectly exercises a certain kind of domination, whether political, economic, social, military or cultural.
Likewise, it is necessary to know this denomination to understand the actions of the main leaders of the world; in the case of the United States of America, since its beginnings as a nation, it maintained its zone of influence in Central and South America; however, after the Second World War, the zones of influence of the first world power moved to Europe. On the other hand, the Soviet Union, with Stalin also victorious in World War II, built its zone of influence in the countries of Eastern Europe by imposing communist governments; they were the two powers that fought for power after the 1960s, with the United States triumphing, so to speak.
Today, China is at the head of the Communist Party, Xi Jinping, who manages to impose himself as a lifelong leader, securing power internally. He began to create his zone of influence in Asia, retaking political power in Hong Kong, and is trying to recover Taiwan, even if by force. Meanwhile, in Latin America, several nations have accepted billion-dollar loans from China, ensuring it an influence never before seen before the inert gaze of the United States. In addition, Putin’s Russia, which is a nuclear power, has taken refuge in China, increasing Xi Jinping’s global power. Therefore, the above allows us to understand why some political or government leaders take sides with Biden (USA) or Xi Jinping (China), since they understand that power is obtained by the votes of their fellow citizens, but they can keep it or lose it to the great powers.
