Areas of Colombia where it rains the most: In some it falls 20 times more water than in Bogotá

According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Colombia is the country in the world where it rains the mostwith average rainfall of 3,240 millimeters of rain each year.

In second place is São Tomé and Príncipe, African islands with a mountainous geography located right on the equator, and in third place was Papua New Guinea, an island country in Oceania where 3,142 millimeters of rain fall every 365 days.

And it is no secret to anyone that there are places in the country where it rains a lot. Some have the imaginary that Bogotá is one of those rainy places, however, there are some remote municipalities that contribute to Colombia being considered the rainiest country in the world.

While in Bogotá it rains an average of 800 mm a year, in López de Micay (Cauca) fall about 13,100 mm/year, the highest annual average in the world. This municipality is one of 16 in the coastal zone of the Colombian Pacific Region, one of the rainiest regions on the planet and where the only means of transportation is by boat.
