The Chevening scholarship program, which allows Central Americans, including Nicaraguans, to study for a master’s degree at one of the prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, formally opened its registrations, which will extend until November 5, according to information shared by the British Embassy in Costa Rica, accredited as a concurrent for Nicaragua, through a press release shared on September 12.

The diplomatic headquarters highlighted in its letter that this program is “fully funded, designed for ambitious professionals seeking to further their education in the United Kingdom” and allows “selected individuals to enroll in any one-year master’s course at one of the renowned universities
“UK world tour, all expenses covered.”

The British ambassador to Costa Rica, Ben Lyster-Binns, said that studying through the Chevening scholarship program “is not just about getting a degree, but having the experience of living in one of the most dynamic and diverse countries in the world.”

that will serve the fellows throughout their careers. We encourage all qualified professionals to take advantage of this opportunity

Requirements to apply for Chevening scholarships

To apply for this scholarship program, according to the website Cheveningapplicants must initially verify that they meet eligibility criteria—which may come in this form link— which range from being a citizen of an eligible country, including Nicaragua; having a university degree and at least two years of work experience.

It also specifies that applicants must not have previously studied in the UK on a UK Government-funded scholarship.

The Chevening Scholarship Programme recommends that prospective applicants research the UK Masters courses that are eligible for the scholarship by visiting its website, where they will then be asked to list three study programmes or Masters courses to which they wish to apply in that country as part of the scholarship.

Applicants will also be required to complete an online application form, found on the Chevening website, including personal details, education history, internships and jobs, two personal references, and submit an essay answering questions related to leadership, relationship building, and future career goals.

The Chevening scholarship program, details the British embassy, ​​began to benefit professionals since 1983 and its scholarship recipients come from more than 165 countries and
territories around the world. In August 2023, according to posts posted on the British Embassy in Nicaragua’s social media, eight Nicaraguans were awarded scholarships through the Chevening programme for the period 2024-2025.
