  5. You get stressed if you are banned from working.
  6. You do not give priority to doing what you like.
  7. You work so much that it has negatively influenced your health.

Personality characteristics identified as workaholics:

  • Affable: they are more likely to be altruistic, obedient, and modest.
  • Neurotic: they tend to be nervous, hostile and impulsive.
  • Intellectual and creative: they are generally inventive and action-oriented.

The study found that younger Norwegian workers were more likely to be workaholics. Gender, level of education and marital status did not appear to play a role.

Parents, however, were more likely to be affected, compared to those without children.
