The two blocs of the MAS, arcitas and evistas, took their conflict to the XXVIII International Seminar, the Parties of a New Society, which was held in Mexico these days. The organizers of the event had to request that they refrain from mentioning the internal problems that they have because that was not the nature of the event.
“Nor can colleagues Bolivia and Peru, put internal situations that you have. lThe political and moral obligation must be addressed in their countries of origin. This space is not to settle internal controversies, respectfully, we say so,” the moderator launched after listening to the interventions of the vice president, David Choquehuanca and the leader Juan Enrique Mamani, of the Evista unity pact. The latter had to suspend his speech, which lasted 2 minutes.
The vice president, in his speech, criticized political caudillismo and the current political structure In the countries that took away the self-determination of the people, “this system has created political leaders with privileges and a cult of personality, leaving the people without a voice and without the ability to govern themselves.”
When he spoke, a woman stood behind him and held up a makeshift sign that said, “David Choquehuanca traitor to the indigenous people”the awkward moment was overcome by the event attendees themselves.
Instead, Mamani had begun by thanking the Government of Mexico and its president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for having welcomed Evo Morales in 2019 when he resigned from his position, although the leader said that it was a coup d’état that threatened the former president’s life.
“Day by day the right is articulating and today we want to ask this seminar to speak out in solidarity with our commander Evo Morales Aima,” he began to harangue, at which point the moderator interrupted him and told him that this was not the scenario, “well, Thank you very much, brothers and sisters, and I would like to thank you and extend a fraternal hug to all of you,” Mamani said and left. His speech lasted two minutes.
Two days before, the Foreign Minister of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa, also took the conflict between evistas and arcistas to the UN, where she denounced an alleged internal conspiracy to destabilize the Government of Luis Arce.
Arcistas and evistas have an internal conflict over the re-election that Evo Morales intends with the MAS; while the arcists want to prevent this announcement so that Luis Arce can run for re-election.
