Experts in the field of architecture and urbanism have gathered in recent days in Brasilia to discuss the main issues involving life in cities.
You Debates occurred during the CAU 2025 International Conference, promoted by the Brazilian Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CAU/BR). THE Event brought together about 4,500 professionals and ended this Saturday (6).
The negative contribution of urban geography to greenhouse gas emissions was one of the main topics discussed. The issue is highlighted according to preparations for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30)which will be held in November this year, in Belém.
During the panels, the speakers debated the challenges of architecture to reduce the effects of climate change and make cities more resilient to the effects of floods and other natural disasters.
From the conference, professionals stressed the need for solutions that combine sustainability and urban development.
For the chairman of the board, Patrícia Sarquis Herden, the event was able to promote essential debates for society.
“Even almost 15 years old, CAU/BR shows its ability to promote major essential debates in architecture and urbanism, such as housing, mobility, climate change and inclusion,” he said.
Topics such as the right to the city for LGBTQIAPN+ and Environmental Justice and original peoples were also addressed.
