Archdiocese of Panama will join in prayer for Ukraine

This Ash Wednesday, Panama joins the call of Pope Francis, to carry out a Day of Fasting and Prayer, to implore for peace in Ukraine.

According to the Permanent Committee of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference, the Day will be held in all the dioceses of the country.

Convinced of the power of prayer and fasting, we exhort the faithful and people of good will to prepare ourselves this coming Ash Wednesday, when we begin our Lenten itinerary, to together ask God to cease this war that brings death, separation of families and destruction.

The CEP called on Panamanian families to join in prayer, as they assured that “we cannot be indifferent, much less ignore them due to geographical distance.”

During the day, the following prayer is requested: “Lord, our God, Father of all mankind,
change the hearts of all peoples,
and their rulers, so that peace may be restored among the nations,
based on justice, love and virtue.
May the Spirit of peace descend on the people of Ukraine
and about our world so that all conflicts cease
and peace reign on earth. AMEN”.
