Archdiocese of Panama suspends priest Jaime Patiño Angulo

The priest Jaime Patiño Angulo, was suspended from the ministerial exercise, by the Archdiocese of Panama, through Decree 610 of February 3, 2023. Despite the suspension, the Archbishop of Panama, José Domingo Ulloa, thanked that it is taken into consideration the canonical situation of Patiño in the various parishes.

In a document from the Archdiocese, it is indicated that it was considered that the judicial or administrative procedure should be promoted to impose or declare penalties when it has been seen that neither the means of pastoral care, especially fraternal correction, nor admonition or rebuke are enough. to restore justice, get the prisoner amended and repair the scandal.

In this statement, the Archdiocese explained that Patiño “will not be able to celebrate the Eucharist, hear confessions, preach, or carry out any priestly ministry anywhere he is.”
