Santo Domingo.-The Archdiocese of Santo Domingo yesterday presented its code of ethics for personnel and pastoral agents and the “Archdiocesan protocol for the protection of vulnerable minors and adults”, in which they establish rules to prevent and treat situations of abuse in the ecclesial field .
The regulation approved on January 31 aims to listen, protect, protect and care for that population within the churches.
And it is that since the Archdiocese they saw the need to eradicate any form of abuse, which lace the pastoral work. For this reason, they have a zero tolerance policy, with improvement of disciplinary measures, as well as civil and canonical processes for those who incur this type of crime.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Monsignor Francisco Ozoria Acosta, highlighted the relevance of having a safe, healthy and cozy atmosphere for vulnerable children and adults.
He pointed out the duty of families and communities to be alert to signs of abuse and promote a culture of prevention and protection.
Report suspicions
The priest Mario Campusano assured the young people to be heard and that the aggressors will not be undercover, while urging to denounce the authorities when there are suspicious behaviors.
“We are told that we are making our greatest effort to protect, accompany them and educate them in faith in a safe and reliable environment,” he said.
To evaluate the complaints there is a commission for the culture of care, composed of eight people, including civil lawyer, a consecrated, a communicator, a canonist and behavior specialist.
While investigating, the archdiocese may prohibit contact with the alleged victim, work suspension and others.
