President Luis Arce ordered the new police generals, including his commander Jhonny Aguilera, to defend democracy against sectors that he described as “undemocratic.” In this context, the head of the security force confirmed the change in regional chiefs.
“To the new generals, I entrust the dignified and historic task of defending democracy in our country and always abiding by the precepts and the most elementary pillars that are embodied in our political constitution of the State, you have the high duty and honor to defend the rule of law of the rights of citizens ”, urged the president in the act in which Aguilera, Orlando Ponce and Álvaro Álvarez were promoted to the rank of first general.

After the event, Aguilera confirmed the restructuring of the regional commands.
“They have already been given gradually so that we can materialize the new law through the gradual implementation of the race and this definitely implies that promotion 89 is going to retire,” he said.
Likewise, the brand new general pointed out that “from tomorrow (this Thursday) this will materialize with the possession of the commander in Beni and we will attend this act in the morning.”
Opposition and civic legislators mobilized against Law 1386 denounced that in regions such as Tarija, police chiefs were dismissed because they refused to repress the protests.
In Tarija, Sadid Ávila was removed from office in the meantime of the disturbances between shock groups related to the MAS and sectors that abided by the strike.
“I have had the joy of working in my town, in Tarija, where they saw me grow with total dedication, now I can walk calmly through the streets of my chura Tarija without any kind of fear (…). I do not carry any victim of violence on my back, ”said Ávila.
Ávila announced his move to the passive sector and in his place Víctor Velásquez took office.
In Potosí, Colonel Juan Carlos Mercado ceased to be the commander of Potosí after the death of a person in the midst of clashes between peasant groups and civic blocks and activists who demand the repeal of the norm. In his place, Bernardo Isnado was appointed.
