President Luis Arce, during his speech at COP 26 (United Nations Conference on Climate Change), in Glasgow, delivered a speech inclined towards pachamamism and attacked the so-called “green capitalism”. The president also targeted developed countries, which he accused of promoting “carbon colonialism.”
“The solution to the climate crisis is not going to be achieved with more green capitalism and more global carbon markets. The solution is to change the model of civilization and move towards an alternative model to capitalism, which is the civilizational horizon of living well in harmony with Mother Earth, ”said Arce.
The authority argued that the capitalist world system cannot solve the climate crisis, unless there is a strong change of direction in its economic and social system.
He also targeted developed countries, which he syndicated to construct speeches, in which they appear as “the champions” of the fight against the climate crisis, which, he said, is far from being true.
“From developed countries, speeches are being built where they appear as the champions of the fight against the climate crisis, with the speech of the neutral balance of emissions to 2050. But that is far from the truth. If developed countries want to be leaders in the fight against the climate crisis, they have to promote a distribution of atmospheric space, based on equity, with common but differentiated responsibilities ”, he assured.
Arce said that he perceives that developed countries are “buying time without any sense of responsibility with humanity and Mother Earth.” He added that they must make reductions within the framework of the objective of the limits to the increase in temperature agreed in Paris, in addition to fulfilling their responsibilities to transfer financial resources and means of implementation to developing countries.
“We have to be aware that the developed countries are promoting a new world recolonization process, which we can call the new carbon colonialism, because they are trying to impose their own rules of the game in the climate negotiations to continue feeding the capitalist system. green, and promoting that developing countries have to assume these rules of the game without any option, “he said.
In Glasgow, Arce spoke with Angela Merkel, Germany’s outgoing Chancellor. “We share the desire that this summit establish concrete measures to limit climate change. We express our admiration for his tenure in command of Germany for 16 years ”, the president later posted.
He also held a meeting with the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández. “We bring the same voice to the summit to fight for the rights of Mother Earth and we share challenges to curb climate change,” the head of state later commented.
“The solution to the climate crisis will not be achieved with more green capitalism.”
