President Luis Arce chose this Friday to give his management report on a stage installed in Plaza Murillo of the city of La Paz, after a group of Evista parliamentarians prevented, with violent acts, the installation of the legislative session, in which the country’s president had to present his report.
Arce celebrates four years in charge of the country and enters his last year of government in the midst of a deep division in the ruling party (the Movement Towards Socialism – MAS) and a economic crisis expressed, mainly, in the continuous shortage of dollars and fuel, in addition to the increase in the prices of food and other products.
Crisis that was worsened in recent weeks by a 24-day road blockade, also carried out by organizations of the evista faction of the MAS.
That is, the groups related to former President Evo Morales (investigated for alleged rape), who, paradoxically, even carried out a march to the Government headquarters to supposedly “save Bolivia” from the crisis.
From January to October, Bolivia recorded an accumulated inflation of 7.26%a figure that doubles the projections for all of 2024.
“The monthly variation for October reached 1.64%, which means we have an accumulated variation from January to October of 7.26%. Unfortunately, this monthly inflation in October is fundamentally explained by the pernicious effects of the inhuman blockades that have been carried out for around 24 days,” said Planning Minister Sergio Cusicanqui.
