The president, Luis Arce, arrived this Wednesday (02:25 on Thursday in Russia) to Kazan to participate in the XVI BRICS Summit and meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in order to discuss different issues of bilateral interest, like lithium.
At the Kazan International Airport, he was received by local authorities and a column of honor made up of Russian soldiers, in the midst of a persistent drizzle.
The bilateral meeting between Arce and Putin is scheduled for this Thursday, October 24. The agenda of topics that will be discussed include: nuclear technology, climate problems, educational cooperation, contracts related to lithium and entry into the BRICS, reported the Bolivian ambassador to Russia, María Luisa Ramos, on Tuesday, October 22.
He will also attend the XVI BRISS Summit, which began on Tuesday with an agenda that includes issues of politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian contacts.
“We arrived in Kazan, #Russia 🇷🇺, to participate in the XVI #BRICSSummit, with the challenge of consolidating important results in favor of the Bolivian people,” Arce published in X, after 8:40 p.m. Bolivian time.
On July 31, 2023, Bolivia made official its interest in joining the BRICS, named after the acronym of its members, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, considered emerging economies.
ABI indicated that, upon arrival at the Russian airport, Arce tasted the famous cuisine of Kazan.
