The alliance that four opposition leaders sealed with a view to the 2025 general elections, did not sit well with the Government of Luis Arce. The head of state, in the midst of the 19th celebration for the first electoral victory of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), launched a strong speech against his political detractors and affirmed that his party “is the only instrument” capable of confronting “the neoliberal right” in the next elections.

“We are going to be, as MAS-IPSP, the only left-wing alternative in these elections. We are going to be the only ones who are going to confront the neoliberals (..) We have to begin the construction and writing of a government program to become a government again 2025-2030. We have to open ourselves to dialogue with everyone,” said Arce at a political rally he held in Plaza Murillo.

Arce assured that “social organizations” will prevent “the neoliberal right” from fulfilling its purpose, he even spoke of confronting them. “The people with social organizations, “He is here willing to tell the right that it will not pass, because the people are going to confront it.”

In all this time, while former president Evo Morales carries out an intense campaign and assures that his candidacy is a fact, The arcistas avoided answering if the president will run againunder the argument that Arce is one hundred percent dedicated to governing and not to projecting his candidacy.

For his part, the mayor of Cochabamba, Manfred Reyes Villa, leader of the political organization Autonomía Para Bolivia Súmate (APB-Súmate) which already has the approval of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), He reiterated that he has no intention of joining the opposition bloc led by former presidents Jorge Tuto Quiroga and Carlos Mesa, along with businessman Samuel Doria Medina and Luis Fernando Camacho.

He insisted that the only possibility that they are on the same train is that that bloc decides to support his ambition to come to power.

“They can ally when I am at the head. If they talk about unity, let them join the one who goes firstand we go first. We are going to win the election and we are going to form a Government, rest assured,” Reyes Villa emphasized.

What’s more, after the opposition pact, Reyes Villa was quick to release a statement to ask the population to support his pre-candidacy ensuring that he is the only one who has a serious proposal and belittling the intention of Mesa, Quiroga, Doria Medina and Camacho.

“We are committed to a real alliance with the people and emerging leaders. We believe that True change comes by giving opportunities to those with new ideas and commitment. We want to build a future together with the people, with transparency and concrete solutions,” says the issued document.

However, since the alliance of Citizen Community and We Believe see Reyes Villa as a functional candidate for archism and they also rule out any approach with him.

The coca leader Evo Morales celebrated, together with his bases and the president of the Senate, the first victory of the MAS 19 years ago and reiterated that he will run for the presidency of Bolivia with or without the MAS acronym.

Both Evo Morales and Luis Arce, in their respective rallies, called to join their ranks, especially the militants who distanced themselves from the MAS, and claimed to be the only and real alternative to defeat the “neoliberal right.”
