MADRID, Spain.- The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC) will offer this Thursday, January 29, at 10:00 am, a press conference in which an “important announcement” will be made about actions directed against the Cuban dictatorship.
The conference, which will be broadcast live on the networks of CubaNetwill take place at the headquarters of the Cuban Democratic Directorate, located at 730 NW 107th Avenue, Suite 460, in Miami, Florida.
The meeting will feature the participation of congressmen Carlos Giménez and Mario Díaz-Balart, both active critics of the Havana regime and promoters of legislative actions to restrict economic flows that could benefit the state and military structures responsible for repression and the deterioration of living conditions on the island. Representatives of Cuban exile organizations, local elected officials and community activists will attend with them.
The ARC, coordinated by Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, He has been a constant actor in exile campaigns against policies that they consider permissive with the Cuban Government, including efforts to limit international agreements and economic support that strengthen the ruling leadership.
The announcement comes in a context of growing tension between the governments of Cuba and the United States. This same Tuesday, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, stated told reporters in Urbandale, Iowa, that “Cuba will collapse very soon” due to the loss of the energy and financial support it received from Venezuela, insisting that Havana was largely dependent on Caracas for its economic support. His statements add to previous warnings in which he reiterated that there will be “no more oil or money” for the Cuban Government from that country. These statements reflect an intensification of pressure from Washington towards the Havana regime.
Giménez, in recent weeks, has insisted that the political transition in Cuba should be quick and not drag on for years, noting that when the president of the United States repeatedly mentions the Cuban regime, he “takes note” within 24 hours.
Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat has reiterated in previous interventions the need for a profound change in Cuba, which includes the departure of the Castro family and the full restitution of the sovereignty of Cubans, as well as support for initiatives such as the national strike to weaken the capacity of the repressive State.
