The Minister of Economy, Azucena Arbeleche, arrived in Washington, United States, on Tuesday the 11th, accompanied by other authorities from that portfolio and the president of the Central Bank, Diego Labat, on the occasion of the 2022 annual meetings of the World Bank (WB). and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In the first days of work, she held a series of meetings with representatives of international organizations.
One of the meetings was with the managing director of World Bank Operations, Axel van Trotsenburg, as well as with the vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean of the aforementioned institution, Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, and the director for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, Jordan Schwartz. .
He also participated in the eighth session of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.
On these occasions she was accompanied by the director of Economic Policy of the ministry, Marcela Bensión; the director of the Debt Management Unit, Herman Kamil; the adviser in Environmental Economics Marcelo Caffera. and the Uruguayan representatives before the IMF, Inés Bustillo, and before the World Bank, Carolina Saizar.
With these meetings, Arbeleche began a series of meetings with representatives of international organizations, government authorities and delegates from the private sector.
On Friday the 14th, he will chair the session of the Development Committee of the World Bank and the IMF, a ministerial forum on a global scale that promotes the creation of intergovernmental consensus on issues of development and social equity.
