Actor Aramís Delgado, 81, has won the 2023 National Theater Award for his outstanding career and contribution to Cuban stage.
The notable actor was awarded the distinction by a jury that met in the province of Camagüey, as part of the actions for the Day of the Cuban Theater. More than fifty institutions made proposals, among which Raquel Carrió, Juan González Fife and Miriam Muñoz were also nominated.
The National Theater Award winner Gerardo Fulleda, a member of the jury, recognized Delgado for his charisma and sensitivity shown throughout his career. Born on April 25, 1942, the actor has participated in more than eighty plays under the direction of the most renowned Cuban directors and has integrated the cast of memorable Cuban soap operas and films, such as the dramatized “Entre mamparas”, “Si you could love me” and “The orphans of the Obrapía”.

In addition, he has been internationally recognized and has performed in countries such as Bulgaria, the Soviet Union, the German Democratic Republic, the German Federal Republic, Spain, Portugal, Venezuela and Brazil.
The Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, congratulated Aramís Delgado through his Twitter account, where he acknowledged that this will be an award highly celebrated by all generations of Cubans, since he is an admired and loved actor.
