As explained by the lawyer specializing in electoral law, José Manuel Villalobos Campana, “the summary of the application for registration of the Apra before the ROP of the JNE. He will enter the period of strikeouts and then he will be permanently registered, being enabled to participate in the next elections ”.
As recalled, the legal representative of the Aprista Party, José Pimentel, registered only three of the 27 lists of candidates for Congress in the last elections. Although he was able to carry out the process in advance, he left it for the last day. Citing problems and slowness in the registration system, Pimentel asked the Special Jury of Elections (JEE) Lima Centro 2 for an additional term, but this was rejected.
When appealing this decision, the National Election Jury (JNE) ultimately rejected the request of the Peruvian Aprista Party to finish registering its list of candidates for Congress for Lima. Not having the minimum percentage required to win a seat in Congress and for the party to be considered a bench, they were removed from the official list of political organizations.
