The National Assembly (AN) approved, in first discussion and unanimously, the Draft Law of the Commands for the Comprehensive Defense of Venezuela. The text was submitted for consideration by the Plenary, in the ordinary session this Friday. The presentation of the bill was led by deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello (PSUV/Nva. Esparta), who explained that the document subscribes to the co-responsibility of the State, and all Venezuelans, in the face of internal and external threats.
«In a decisive way, the military power, the police power, the economic capacities, the human capacities, of the entire people. In our municipalities, in our states, and throughout our country, in guarantee of freedom of command of this law, of the command unity in comprehensive defense of the nation, it guarantees the command and control of tasks and purposes in terms of comprehensive defense, it guarantees fluid communication from the top of the decision-making department to each base of this structure,” explained the parliamentarian in reference to the fundamental bases of the project.
In that sense, he asked the deputies to leave behind political colors and maintain a patriotic stance in defense of the homeland and as a legacy to future generations.
“In this solemn building witness to countless episodes in our history, I ask you deputies to vote with resolution on this bill regarding the defense of the homeland, there are no sides or colors, the defense of the homeland is the foundation base where all the others can happen (…) that future generations know that we do not give up on our historical duty of peace,” he concluded.
