The Climate Action Law was approved today in the Congress of the Republic. This project was established in September of this year by the ministries of Environment and Sustainable Development, Interior, Transportation, Finance and Public Credit, Mines and Energy, Housing, City and Territory; Agriculture and Rural Development, and Commerce, Industry and Tourism.
(‘We will present a climate action law’).
With this law, the Government intended to promote the end of deforestation, as well as promote the protection of 30% of seas and continental areas. This legislation will also allow the country to have tools to follow up on the objectives set by the country regarding the environmental fight, in addition to making known how the development of the carbon markets is going, the financing of the programs and regulating the actions of the different sectors.
“This project will soon become the Law of the Republic. It will be the roadmap for the country in the coming years in terms of the environment and climate change ”, said Carlos Eduardo Correa, Minister of the Environment.
After being approved by Congress, the law will go to conciliation and then will be sanctioned by the President of the Republic.
