The National Assembly (AN) approved by qualified majority, the Draft Agreement in commemoration of the Tenth Anniversary of the Sowing of the Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, and honored his legacy in favor of the most dispossessed, among them; the defense of indigenous peoples in the country.
Deputy Noelí Pocaterra, who was in charge of opening the debate and presenting the draft agreement, before the plenary, considered that talking about Chávez is a difficult issue because no one can be excluded, in her opinion, “Hugo Chávez vindicated all the Venezuelan people since his arrival at the presidency of the Republic”.

He explained that the native peoples were dignified from the moment a complete chapter was included in the Constitution of the Republic of 1999, which recognizes their rights, their languages or dialects, and the number of existing indigenous peoples in Venezuela.
For the deputy, “Hugo Chávez constituted hope, he became the light, justice for the indigenous peoples.” She said that death represents a cycle of life, for indigenous peoples, especially for the Wayúu people, “it is a journey from the earthly plane where a whole ritual is performed to face that moment.”
In this sense, he stated that Chávez did not die, “Chávez lives, for us indigenous peoples in general, the spirit of Chávez is still here among us.”
In the same way, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, thanked Noelí Pocaterra for his heartfelt words and assured that Commander Chávez came to redeem the exploited, the neglected, and those who were neglected for decades and decades of bad governments. ”.
Finally, the deputy Yajaira Meléndez was the one who read the project of agreement that contemplates, in the first place, to commemorate together with the Venezuelan people the 10 years of the sowing of the Eternal Commander and leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, as one of the most distinguished men, admirable, full of deep love, affection and loyalty to the Venezuelan people and to the peoples of the world.
And secondly, to continue studying and deepening the historical legacy of Commander Chávez, as the main bulwark of the Venezuelans, who dedicate their lives to the construction of a just, humane, free, sovereign, independent and socialist Homeland.
