The Asobancaria Board of Directors reported this Friday that appointed as president (e) Alejandro Verareplacing Hernando José Gómez, who resigned from the position, after the scandal for alleged abusive behavior with an employee of the union.
The union reported that Gomez’s permanent replacement will be sought through a specialized firm.
“Activate the process of searching for a president through a specialized firm and designate Alejandro Vera, technical vice president of Asobancaria, as president in charge in the transition,” the board said.

He also pointed out that he decided “unanimously to accept the resignation presented by Hernando José Gómez, with immediate effect and valuing his work in the last two years.”
Meanwhile, a high-level team made up of the president of the Board of Directors of AsobancariaMario Pardo Bayona, the president of the Women’s Bank Leonor Melo and the president of Davivienda Javier Suárez, advanced the first interviews for the scandal generated by a complaint of sexual harassment that allegedly involves the president of Asobancaria Hernando José Gómez, for events that occurred last October 31.
These first interviews were conducted on November 8 between 9:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. in which Hernando José Gómez and a collaborator of his in Asobancaria who denounced him for alleged sexual harassment were heard separately.
Pardo Bayona contacted the woman who reported the events to guarantee them a safe environment and that the investigations and actions that take place will be carried out.
It was like this last Thursday, November 10, Hernando José Gómez presented his resignation to the position and an extraordinary meeting was convened for today at five in the afternoon, in order to know the progress and act with the greatest care and speed possible to strictly comply with the respective ethical and legal provisions.

Likewise, Attorney Mauricio Pava was granted power to file the respective complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office and other legal actions that it deems necessary taking into account the seriousness of the facts.
This high-level commission that investigates these events internally in Asobancaria was integrated based on the framework of the Belém de Dupará Convention and other regulations for the protection of women.
According to what is contemplated in the law, if an investigation for the crime of sexual harassment prospers, the former president of Asobancaria could face a possible sentence ranging from one to three years in prison and the sentence could be increased, due to the position of superiority exercised by Hernando José Gómez over the woman who reported being a victim of this act.
