Ángel Pérez Santa Cruz was appointed as executive director of the Special Decentralized Transport Infrastructure Project (Decentralized Provías) in replacement of the also questioned Abel Ramo Cuya. But he lasted less than a day on the job.
Twelve hours after giving him confidence, he was removed from office by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). The reasons? In 2021, Pérez Santa Cruz physically assaulted a woman on public roads and dragged her along the track with her vehicle and everything was recorded on video.
The MTC assured in a statement that the former official had the correct profile to assume the position. “The sector carried out the protocols established for the appointment of officials. In this framework, the professional profile of Mr. Ángel Pérez Santa Cruz was reviewed and it was verified that he met the requirements contemplated in the law on the suitability of public officials and managers. In that sense, he also did not have the impediments established by SERVIR, his name was not found in the list of sanctioned officials or servers and he did not have a criminal and judicial record.”
The ministry added that Pérez was removed “after learning that said official had a complaint of physical abuse filed by a communicator, the MTC has immediately arranged to annul the recent appointment of Pérez Santa Cruz to the position of executive director. of Decentralized Provías”.
The victim was Lisset Seminario Gordillo, 34, who around noon on June 9, 2021 was talking with the aggressor Ángel Pérez Santa Cruz inside his vehicle. The subject went down to answer a call and when he returns he snatches the cell phone from the communicator Seminario Gordillo, in addition to yelling at her to get out of the car.
As noted in the complaint, in addition to taking her cell phone, Pérez dragged the woman with his car and hit her before starting off. A citizen passing by with his linear motorcycle helped Lisset Seminario, who filed the complaint at the Olmos police station, located in Lambayeque.
