The European Scholarship Fair “Opening Minds, Changing Lives”, organized annually by the delegation of the European Union (EU) and the embassies of Germany, Spain, France and Italy in Nicaragua, showcases citizens originating from countries that are not EU members a series of scholarship programs in which they can access higher studies, offered by some of the best universities on that continent.
On the “EUenNicaragua” portal, which you can access herethere are a number of higher education scholarship programs, offered in the 27 member countries of the European Union.
Most of these scholarships are linked to Erasmus+, a program, as defined by the EU, “for education, training, youth and sport for the period 2021-2027”, which offers “multiple opportunities to students, university students, teachers and institutions from all over the world.

Erasmus+, according to information shared by the EU, allows students to undertake an internship in Europe, but also to apply for scholarships or tuition as “self-financed students” in one of the Erasmus Mundus master’s programmes.
By applying for Erasmus+ scholarships, students can pursue higher, undergraduate and postgraduate studies at universities in Europe, for a period of two years.
To apply for Erasmus scholarships, applicants must be enrolled in a higher education institution, speak the language required in the countries where you wish to study or adjust to their previous study programs, accept the mobility period that is usually be from two months to two years, be from a country that does not belong to the EU and send the formal application, which may include the study plan and motivation letter and letters of recommendations from teachers from the country of origin, in this case Nicaragua .
Other scholarships in European countries
On the scholarship portal, there are also countries like Germany, which offer the “German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, for its acronym in German), and Spain, which also offers the Fundación Carolina scholarships; doctoral scholarships from the La Caixa Foundation and the CRUE Spanish Universities.
France also offers the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program and Slovakia offers scholarships through the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic, which “supports study, research, teaching and art mobility of international students, doctoral students, university professors , researchers and artists in higher education institutions and research organizations” and covers “living expenses during the stay and travel expenses.”
Other EU countries that have scholarship programs linked to Erasmus+ are Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic and Romania.
