Applications open in New York to operate vending carts on the streets; Dominicans will request

The Health Department expects the new carts and trucks to begin operating on the streets this summer.

NEW YORK.- The Health Department in this city announced that it opened applications to operate carts or trucks of street foodand hundreds of Dominicans intend to apply.

There are over 1,000 permits available, presenting an opportunity for hundreds of New Yorkers to become small business owners.

Dominicans Daniel Alcántara, Miguel Estévez, Miguelina de los Santos, Mariluz de Contreras, Isidro Ortega, Wilfredo Rojas, and Ernesto Rodríguez, in Upper Manhattan, are some of the Quisqueyans who intend to request it, they reported.

Applicants can apply online or by mail by calling 311 and asking for a “Green Cart Permit” or “Seasonal Cart Permit.”

Applications must be submitted before April 30 of this year. The Health Department expects the new carts and trucks to begin operating on the streets this summer.

“Facilitating access to nutritious food and supporting the start-up of new small businesses is another step in bringing back a stronger, healthier city for all.”

“The carts or trucks bring nutritious foods to areas of our city that may have limited access to healthy foods,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Dave A. Chokshi.
