Registration for the 13th edition of the Fundação Banco do Brasil Social Technology Award is open until December 1st via the portal Transform!.
In this edition of the award, up to R$6 million will be allocated, including cash resources and support for projects for the reapplication of social technology. One of the highlights will be the Fundação BB 40 Years Challenge, which will celebrate the institution’s four decades by supporting two projects with investments of up to R$1 million each.
Projects must be aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in areas such as food, education, energy, income generation, housing, environment, water resources and health. Non-profit institutions and public and private institutions can register.
“Another novelty is the appreciation of initiatives that promote racial equality, gender equity and the inclusion of traditional peoples and communities, reaffirming the BB Foundation’s commitment to diversity, social justice and sustainable development, aligned with SDG 18 – Ethnic-Racial Equality”, says the foundation.
Banco do Brasil Foundation advisor, Fabrício Araújo, explains that social technology represents solutions and initiatives that can be products, techniques and methodologies developed in interaction with the community to solve social problems.

They can be reapplied in certain territories, always developed with the participation of the community. “The essence of social technology involves community participation and people’s protagonism. They are the protagonists in this process.”
Araújo highlights that the most symbolic project ever awarded is the cisterns. “It is a finalist social technology in 2001 and has become an important public policy reapplied throughout the semi-arid region with more than 1.3 million cisterns”, he states.
According to the advisor, another example is Embrapa’s biodigester septic tank, which was widespread in rural Brazil on a large scale. “And a third social technology that we can highlight is integrated and sustainable agroecological production, which has also been reapplied on a scale aimed at family food security and, in a second moment, the commercialization of surpluses”, he adds..
The agenda of the 13th edition also includes the National Social Technology Week, which will be held in May 2026, in Brasília, bringing together experts, leaders, finalist institutions and strategic partners in debate tables, thematic panels and articulations for new social investments. The closing will be marked by the award ceremony for the new certified projects.
