The bench of Alliance for Progress (APP) spoke about the crisis in Petroperuafter the last Sunday March 20 Hugo Chavez Arevalo resigned from the position of general manager. The congressional group demanded a change of directors and a statement by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Carlos Palacios.
“The APP bench expresses its concern about the crisis in Petroperú, about credit risk rating at ‘garbage’ and placed under special review, about inept management and acts of corruption. We demand a change of board of directors by honest and competent officials. Minister of Energy and Mines must respond to the country”wrote the group through its Twitter account.

The day before, Chávez Arévalo presented his irrevocable resignation to the position of general manager and as a member of the board of directors of the state company Petroperu. His departure from office occurred in the midst of struggles between the Ministries of Economy and Minem to achieve support for his management.
Likewise, the rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) downgraded Petroperú’s long-term debt rating from BBB- to BB++, due to its lack of financial transparency and the weakening of its governance.
