The Vice Minister of Agricultural Development, Francisco Ameglio, and the Agricultural Affairs Commission of the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE) discussed an innovative educational model for institutes with agricultural bachelor’s degrees.
This is an educational model of self-sustaining schools where students learn by doing, selling and earning, and which has been successful in other latitudes, carried out by Eng. Luis Cateura, director of Fundación Paraguaya, and which is currently being developed in three schools.
Ameglio showed great interest in the program and said that this type of education, based on agricultural technologies, could strengthen the Instituto Superior de Las Américas, formerly INA, since it would turn it into a first-class facility in America by equipping it with modern facilities, making it more attractive for students who decide to pursue careers related to agriculture.
He also highlighted the collaboration of APEDE as well as the embassies of Israel, Germany, Italy and the United States, whose representatives have shown their interest in being part of initiatives that seek development and strategic collaboration to improve agricultural education in Panama.
