Santo Domingo.- It is necessary to see how the merger of the ministries of Education and Higher Education, Science and Technology will be carried out, and what its impact would be, said Carlos Ortega, president of the APEC Board of Directors, this Wednesday.
«We only know the intention of the Government to improve public spending, not only in the educational aspect, but also in other institutions,” he expressed.
Ortega recalled that, in the business field, any merger requires planning and the consideration of cultural aspects that, according to him, it is not known how they have been foreseen.
He explained that as a group they do not know how the unification will be carried out.

“If this merger benefits the student population at all levels, from initial education, which covers four-year-old children, to higher education in universities, as a group we would agree,” Ortega highlighted during his participation in the Lunch Weekly of the Corripio Communications Group.
However, he pointed out that they are not yet aware of the project, so it would be premature to issue an opinion.
“In principle, it seems that it will be beneficial, but we still do not know with certainty what the benefits and challenges of this merger are,” he said.

Ortega also highlighted that, in the educational field, systematic evolutions must be constant and not only respond to situations, as seems to be the current case.
«We do not know if this diagnosis exists; There is a lot of scattered information, and it is an issue that must be addressed in order to, based on it, make the corresponding evaluation,” he concluded.
