Within the framework of the summit APEC Peru 2024YouTube has recognized the work of two prominent Peruvian content creators: Aldo Bartra, founder of the channel Plato’s Robotand Jorge Tejero, creator of Matemobile. Both channels, dedicated to education and scientific dissemination, represent Peruvian talent on the popular video platform.
Aldo Bartra
Aldo Bartra, a social communicator who graduated from the San Martín de Porres University, is the creator of Plato’s Robota channel dedicated to scientific dissemination with more than 2.8 million followers. His passion for science and his didactic approach have allowed him to connect with a wide Spanish-speaking audience.
In addition to his main channel, Bartra is founder of the scientific news portal Robotitus and author of the book “Plato’s Robot”, published in 2023. His contributions go beyond online content, including international talks on science and education.
Jorge Tejero
For his part, Jorge Tejero, an industrial engineer who graduated from the University of Piura, has dedicated his career to simplifying mathematics through Matemobile. With 2.3 million subscribers, his channel offers animated videos on mathematics, physics and statistics, aimed at students of all levels.
Tejero combines his passion for numbers with his academic experience, which includes an MBA at ESAN and a master’s degree in mathematics teaching at PUCP. His channel, complemented by a presence on social networks, has more than 970 videos produced and continues to grow.
YouTube, an educational window in Peru
The use of YouTube in Peru continues to boom. According to data from Kantar, 8 out of 10 users value the platform’s unique content, while a study by Offerwise highlights that more than 7 million Peruvians streamed YouTube on their televisions during 2023.
YouTube’s popularity in the country also reflects a social experience, with more than 52% of users watching videos in the company of family and friends. The most used devices are smartphones (76%), computers (68%) and televisions, preferred by 6 out of 10 users.
