APEC 2024: Prime Minister of Japan arrives in Peru

Primer ministro de Japón

The leaders keep arriving. The Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, arrived in Peru on Thursday night to make an official visit and participate in the Leaders Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC).

The Japanese dignitary was received at the Callao Air Base by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Eduardo Arana Ysa, representing the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte. Upon his arrival, he was given the honors corresponding to his high position.

As a result of this meeting scheduled for tomorrow, both heads of Government will sign a Joint Declaration that will include a “Road Map” for the next ten years, whose purpose will be to deepen and project the Strategic Partnership between Peru and Japan, established in 2016.

Likewise, efforts will be made to strengthen “People to People” relations, considering that Peru has the third largest Nikkei community in the world, while more than 50,000 Peruvians reside in Japan, making up the largest Spanish-speaking community in that country, the Foreign Ministry noted.
