Through a statement, the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb) denounced that an “apocryphal call” for a congress is circulating on social networks that has the purpose of renewing its directive and ignoring Amparo Carvajal, its owner.

The institution also holds the Government responsible for the consequences and warns that these actions could respond to another attempt to take over its facilities, as happened on previous occasions.

“In addition to confusing those who fight for human rights, this call could be a new attempt to affect our activities and to take over the House of Human Rights, for which we hold the Government responsible in advance, in the event of any fact that puts at risk our institutional and individual integrity ”, the statement details.

The institution recalled that on December 10 it celebrates 45 years in the service of defending human rights and that during that time governments of the military and civilian dictatorships faced authoritarian rule.

In this context, the Apdhb announced that it will continue its independent work in favor of those who need them.

In August, a group from the Movement for Socialism (MAS) tried to take over its facilities while Carvajal led a march to demand freedom for a group of people he described as “political prisoners” of the Luis Arce government.
