Anvisa prohibits fake batches of tea and supplements that are unsafe for consumption

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) ordered this Thursday (23) the seizure of a fake batch of Multi Extract Ready-to-Consume Tea. This batch was not produced by A&CL Indústria e Comércio de Produtos Naturais, which is the real manufacturer of the tea.Anvisa prohibits fake batches of tea and supplements that are unsafe for consumption

The decision only affects products from batch 2306, with registration number ES000233-0.000043 from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). Once determined, the products are prohibited from being sold, distributed, manufactured, consumed and publicized.

“The measure was motivated after a complaint reported that the product was counterfeit. Furthermore, A&CL Indústria e Comércio de Produtos Naturais confirmed that it did not produce the aforementioned batch, and the registration ES000233-0.000043, printed on the product label, has already been canceled by Mapa”, said Anvisa, in a note.

It was also determined to recall all batches of Standard Clinoptilolite Zeolite and Premium Clinoptilolite Zeolite supplements.sold by the company Zeoclin Ltda. The action prohibited the marketing, distribution, manufacturing, import, dissemination and consumption of the products.

“Anvisa’s determination was caused by the inclusion, in the supplements in question, of an ingredient that was not proven safe to use and effective by the Agency. Furthermore, product advertising associates its use with therapeutic properties, such as capturing pollutants and toxins, a practice not permitted for products classified as food.”
