Antonio Parada Vaca, the main accused of the 800 ghost items, told his lawyer Joao Márquez on Tuesday that stopped requiring his services, since he hired two other professionals to defend him and prevent his transfer to Bolivia. From the Prosecutor’s Office they reported that the requirements of the Bolivian Foreign Ministry were met to consolidate the extradition.
“The Public Ministry, at the right time, presented the corresponding procedures to the Foreign Ministry (…) Now the bureaucratic procedures are missing, such as translating the document and making it known to the Brazilian state and at any time this person can be extradited”, explained prosecutor Iván Quintanilla, a member of the commission investigating the case.
Quintanilla said that it remains “expectant” to the response of the Brazilian authorities and he hopes that the extradition process can be expedited with the efforts of the Bolivian Foreign Ministry, since he assured that now the process must be carried out between the two States.
While Antonio Parada continues detained in a prison for men in the border city of Corumbá. This Tuesday the encapsulation of Brazilian prisons was lifted and the lawyer Joao Márquez was able to enter to visit the former director of Human Resources.
Parada informed the jurist that advised him since he arrived in Brazil in December 2021, that he will no longer have his services, since his family has decided to hire two other professionals to exercise his defense against the extradition requested by the Bolivian justice.
Brazilian media did not reveal the names of Parada’s new lawyers, but reported that in the next few days he will be put before a precautionary judge which will resolve the extradition request.
